The Horse Council System
Connecting the Horse Industry from the Hometown to the White House: Imagine the Horse Council system as a transportation system that is designed to move information and address horse industry concerns back and forth on the roads created by interested and involved horse people. This system and the organizations involved in making it work share similar goals. Whether the participants are focused on local, regional or national issues, their goals work toward creating an environment which promotes a healthy respect for all disciplines and breeds in the horse industry and moves toward what is beneficial to the overall horse community. Local horse councils form the roots of the system by uniting horse people within their community to work on issues that impact them. In Colorado we are blessed with many county and area horse councils that are well organized, politically active, and committed to educating horse owners and the non-horse owning public in matters that impact the well being of the horse industry. The Colorado Horse Council serves as your regional resource. Its mission is to unite the horse owners and the horse industry of the State of Colorado into a powerful common voice in order to protect their common equine interest through legislation and education. To accomplish this mission, our lobbyist monitors legislation at the State Capitol and the Horse Council's board works to identify issues in the field through interaction with the membership, local councils and the horse industry. The Rocky Mountain Horse Expo at www.RockyMountainHorseExpo.com represents the Colorado Horse Council's largest scale education effort, however many other educational activities are held through out the state addressing needs identified by the participants. The American Horse Council is our national resource. In its role as the national federation of horse people and organizations, the American Horse Council gives the industry a forum to develop programs and map policies for the future well-being of the industry. As the industry's national legislative representative, the American Horse Council explains to Congress and federal agencies how proposed laws will affect horse interests and what new regulations are needed to ensure a healthy future You can help keep the information traveling along this system. Horse people benefit by sharing their experiences, issues and successes with one another and many are surprised to find how similar the issues are across the country. |
