Denver, March 9-11
Many horse lovers collect horse figurines, and for more than thirty years people have been sharing their collections via model horse shows. Model horses are highly collectible, and come in many different makes and materials, from plastic to fine porcelain. Model horses are also an art and a craft, with equine artists creating sculptures to scale and casting them into resin and ceramic materials, then giving them highly realistic finishes in paint. Like model railroaders and military miniaturists, model horse hobbyists also may rework, resculpt and repaint "out of the box" factory-made models, to achieve a higher level of detail, accuracy and realism. The Rocky Mountain MODEL HORSE Expo will be a large-scale, 2-day model horse show, Saturday and Sunday during the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo at the National Western Complex in Denver. That weekend, there will be many model horse-related events, including a swap meet and dinner hosted by the Peter Stone Company at the Westin Hotel in Westminster Saturday night.
