Lauren Gueswel Working Equitation

Lauren Gueswel is a national level Working Equitation coach and competitor, as well as an active board member and 2020 President of High Country Working Equitation (HCWE). She is also a regional director for the Confederation for Working Equitation. Her background prior to her passion for Working Equitation included Dressage, Hunter/Jumpers, breed showing, endurance, 4-H, and several other equestrian aspects throughout her life that have made her the horsewoman that she is today.

Lauren believes that Working Equitation provides a sport in which to train (or cross-train) your horse to lightness and the higher levels of the training spectrum while keeping it fun… continuously improving the communication, trust, and relationship between horse and rider. Her techniques have been influenced by various international and US coaches including Nuno Matos of Portugal through the Pedro Torres Academy of Working Equitation. In 2019 she earned the honors of National Champion with WE United and Reserve Champion with The Confederation for WE in Level 5. Lauren’s techniques apply to all disciplines to help horses find balance, lightness, and self-carriage… and she finds that the Working Equitation obstacles are a great way to teach and test the attainment of these attributes. Lauren is known for her kind, patient, encouraging approach toward students and horses in training. She coaches a dedicated group of Working Equitation students who come from varying backgrounds, as well as teaches regular clinics at Plane View Farm in Erie, Colorado.
