The Communication Alliance to Network Thoroughbred Ex-Racehorses (CANTER) is now offering its nationally recognized service to the horsemen in Colorado. CANTER is a fully accredited non-profit organization dedicated to helping racehorses find new careers after the finish line. Nationwide, this free program has helped over 10,000 horses transition from racing since its inception in 1997.

CANTER volunteers will be available immediately at Arapahoe Park to offer free sales listings, including photography, to owners and trainers looking to move their ex-racehorses into second careers. Listings may be viewed by the general public through the nationally recognized website “We’ve never had a formal program in Colorado to bridge the gap between racehorse and sport horse,” says Jamie Girouard, Executive Director of CANTER Colorado, “we’re thrilled to bring this free service to the horsemen at Arapahoe Park to help connect owners and trainers with Colorado horse people who are interested in purchasing off the track horses.”

People interested in purchasing off the track horses can view listings at CANTER Colorado’s website  or visit the facebook page Trainers or owners who would like to list a horse for sale should contact Jamie Girouard at colorado@canterusa.org.   For further information on the CANTER program, please contact Nancy Koch at NancyK@canterusa.org or (330) 697-4460.
