Alecz Adams has been working professionally with horses for over 30 years. A successful competition and professional rider in a variety of disciplines: Hunters, Jumpers, Eventing, Reining, Trail, English Equitation, Western Pleasure, and many Gymkhana Events, she also works as a horse trainer, private riding instructor, and ranch manager. Ms. Adams spent several years designing, creating and training both horses and staff for several companies, including the number one equestrian tour in Peru, Mountain Lodges of Peru. Ms. Adams also founded Destination Rescue, a program created to help small equine 501(c)3s grow and integrate into their communities, by helping each rescue find their niche and create their own programs in their area. She also co-founded 10th Mountain Equine, a nonprofit dedicated to providing Equine Assisted Therapy and the fact-based research which validates it. Ms. Adams has been providing Equine Assisted Therapy to Veterans, children and families for over a decade. She has developed a new therapeutic trauma releasement method which has been very successful in her practice. Ms. Adams is one of Eagle County’s original Health and Human Services Equine Assisted Therapy and Therapeutic Riding providers.

  • Mindful Horseback Riding

    Alecz Adams will present, demonstrate and teach the foundations of Mindful Horseback Riding, from her new book “Mindful Horseback Riding”. Mindful Horseback Riding enhances the bond between horse and rider at all levels of riding, in all disciplines, and even in groundwork. Some of the foundations presented in this introductory class include Breathwork for Equestrians, Connecting through Hoofbeats, Riding With Intention, and participants will also get the opportunity to experience several fun and functional Mindful Riding Enhancement Practices

  • Healing With Animals
    Alecz Adams will lecture on the development and implementation of Animal Assisted Therapy throughout history, with emphasis on Equine Assisted Therapy. Animal Assisted Therapies are therapeutic modalities in which animals assist humans in their psychological healing and growth. With a horse partner, Alecz will demonstrate her internationally known Healing Horseshoe Meditation and her revolutionary Equine Assisted Trauma Releasement. Without having to verbalize personal details, participants in this class will have the opportunity to begin to transform and release the effects of traumatic experiences. Additionally, several Animal Assisted Therapy practices will be gifted for post-workshop use.

  •  Yoga on Horseback

     Seasoned Yoga on Horseback instructor Alecz Adams combines Anusara inspired yoga movements with the unique balance and core strength needed in horseback riding to help equestrians improve their flexibility, comfort, and overall riding experience, and gain deeper connection with their horses. This class is offered for all disciplines, including English, Western, and bareback. Horses will primarily stand for the class, with some walking, and minimal trot/jog. Participants and the audience will learn how to safely execute these stretching and meditative techniques, both mounted on their horses, and with their horses on the ground. This class will include theory, optional movements on the ground, and up to intermediate mounted stretches for riders. Please note that these are stretches for riders not horses.
