    Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard

The FCMCG is a by request only, all active duty troop based out of Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs, its troopers come from all over the United States of America and most had never seen a horse prior to their time on the Color Guard. They are selected for this duty assignment based on motivation and and quality of character, many are combat vets as well. We participate in over 200 missions a year across the states of Colorado and Wyoming. These missions are diverse and range from military ceremonies, parades, rodeos, historical displays and cavalry tactics/drill performances and Special Forces Equine Training. Our troopers also compete in the National Cavalry competition every year in which they ride in events such as, mounted saber, mounted pistols, field jumping and Combat Horsemanship.
