Mesa Trail
A section of the Mesa Trail will soon be closed for much-needed resurfacing.  This is a short section of trail along Mesa Rd , just up the hill from 30th St. If you’ve ridden on the few feet of experimental surface and found it to be less than ideal, relief is on the way.

New Santa Fe Trail on Air Force Academy Grounds
Effective immediately, a piece of the popular New Santa Fe Trail will be closed on weekdays through October 30.  Construction repairs will be made on the Tri Intersection Bridge on Southgate Blvd , causing safety issues directly below the bridge.  No detour exists on the AFA grounds due to Preble’s Jumping Mouse habitat issues. Cyclists – if you need to bypass the Academy, we suggest the following alternative route:  Heading north on the Pikes Peak Greenway, take Woodmen Rd east under I-25, turn left onto Campus Dr, right on Vincent Dr/turns into Cragin Rd, at the end of Cragin Rd follow the sidewalk to Heath Dr.  Left onto Heath Dr/turns into Goddard St, right on Kelly Johnson/Hwy 83/Voyager Pkwy, left on Northgate Rd, right on driveway just before north entrance gate to the AFA to reconnect with the New Santa Fe Trail.

This alternate route is primarily on-street and is an alternative for cyclists. There are not sidewalks for most of this route.  This route is not recommended for pedestrians or equestrians.

Note: The Santa Fe Trail will be open through the Academy on weekends.

Pikes Peak Greenway at Goose Gossage
Watch for flagmen at Goose Gossage Youth Sports Complex. Utilities work will begin on the T-Gap spur in the near future and continue for a couple months. Though the trail won’t be closed,    workmen may flag you to stop briefly while large equipment is on the trail.

Palmer Park – June 1 – August 8

To help facilitate utilities maintenance work, the Lazy Land access road between Paseo Rd and Brenner Place will be closed Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning Wednesday, June 1.  Residents with weekday reservations for the Lazy Land Picnic Area may use the normal access entrance via Lazy Land Rd at the top of Palmer Park off Paseo Rd. No weekend work is planned at this time.
