EXTREME Mountain Trail Challenge
Mustang Heritage Foundation presents Rocky Mountain Horse Expo’s Extreme Mountain Trail Challenge. Horse and Rider teams compete to be the best in the Extreme Trail Challenge built in the arena at the National Stock Show Complex. Watch 10 Mustangs and 10 other breeds go head to head for over $5,000 in prizes,

ULTIMATE Mountain Trail Challenge
10 Mustangs will compete with 10 open breeds to be crowed the winner of the Ultimate Mountain Trail Challenge. A more difficult course with over $10,000 in prize money and the right to be crowned the Ultimate Mountain Trail Challenge Champion.

Trevor Mertes brings the Cowboy Race to the 2024 Rocky Mountain Horse Expo. Trevor has been a world-class competitor in this new and popular event.
The Cowboy Race is a timed event and the horse and rider team must go through a series of obstacles, drag an object, go over bridges and even dismount. It is a fun and exciting event to watch.
Leap Of Faith Homestead Petting Zoo will host the 2024 Petting Zoo. They will bring a variety of animals that may include miniature Scottish Highland cows, fainting goats, mini donkeys, mini pigs, bunnies, chinchillas, and possibly chickens. You can meet fainting goats, or enjoy story time with Elvis The Pony, read by the author Tiffany Lauer. You can build memories by taking Photos with Rose the 18-Hand Clydesdale.
Enjoy stories with Elvis the Pony Story Time — 30-minute story times every 2 hours with opportunities to Meet and Greet Elvis before and after storytime. Storytime is hosted by the author of Elvis The Pony, Tiffany Lauer. Elvis the Pony explores the horse world in his adventures that often highlight friendships, values, and making good choices. The Elvis the Pony books are for ages 1 to 5+
Rody Races (Scheduled every 2 hours) — A fun race with blow-up bouncy horses –Organized and facilitated races for kids.
BreyerWest is a Breyer-sponsored model horse event that includes model horse shows, model horse hobby workshops, demos, and more! This year’s event takes place March 15-17, 2024 at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado, in partnership with the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo. A few of the events include:
- Free Stablemates painting for kids!
- Open Model Horse show – for experienced showers 13 and up
- Meet & Greets with Breyer artists
- Hobby Q & A
- Fun hobby workshops (pre-registration required)
- Evening Swap Meet/Artisan’s Gallery at the Host Hotel
- Youth and Novice Model Horse show – perfect for kids and new showers of all ages!

The BreyerWest Swap Meet/Artisans’ Gallery will be taking place at the host hotel on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 7:00 to 10 pm in the Grand Ballroom.

EQUUS FILM & ARTS FEST AND MUSTANG SUMMIT
The Expo Art Show and Literary Corral will be part of a larger promotion of Art, Film, and Books at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo under the Promotional Direction of the EQUUS Film and Art Fest. This collaboration will heighten the awareness of Equine Filmmakers, Artists, and Authors.
The Mustang Summit is a gathering of Mustang Experts in all facets of the Mustang World. Trainers, Activists, and many more experts are at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo to educate us all on these majestic horses.
Adopt A Horse
If you’re considering bringing a new horse into your life, you may be able to find the right horse through adoption from one of Colorado’s Horse Rescues.
Take a look at the horses you can adopt on Friday or Saturday at 4 pm.
All adopters will be offered free admission to CSU’s Equine Training and Behavior Clinic offered by RMHE Clinicians Cayla Stone and Sarah Matlock

World of Horses Showcase

The World of Horses Showcase will highlight each breed and display the unique qualities of each breed of horse. Breed demonstrations focus on the history of the breed; the conformation, gaits, and all of the unique qualities that define each breed. The disciplines and activities at which members of the breed excel will be featured which might have horses shown under saddle, driven, and even led in the arena,
The Exhibit stables will allow you to get up close with the different breeds. Take a look at all the differences in conformation, size and possibly colors.
A few of the breeds that will be on location include a Mustang, Lipizzaner, Stock Horse Breeds and more.
