Meet Elvis the Pony and Topsy Turvy Tivio! I invite you to explore their book series, Elvis the Pony. With seven books in the series and more titles on the way, Elvis the Pony stories explore parts of the horse world like breeds, colors, barrel racing, jumping/eventing, excaramuzas, and rodeo in his Adventure books. Themes of friendship, values, overcoming fears, and making good choices evolve in the Elvis the Pony Tales books, and the Elvis the Pony Learns series is for ages 2 to 6 (preschool/kindergarten) and presents topics such as ABCs, numbers, colors, and other basic lessons appropriate for the age group.
As a born horse lover, I have thirty-five years of experience as a rider, horse trainer, riding instructor, Iowa Horse Fair presenter, and Equestrian director. Elvis the Pony, Tivio, and I have participated in Horse Fairs, Dog and Pet Expos, author/library events, parades, local community events, and much more! We offer story-telling hour at Expo events and meet and greets as well as other activities like coloring contests, Rody races, horseshoe tosses, and other games, and Elvis the Pony is an excellent draw to the kids’ area during expos! My goal with the Elvis the Pony series is to share my love and knowledge of the horse world with my own kids as well as all those animal and horse-loving kids out there!
Story Hour With Elvis the Pony
Elvis the Pony Story Time — 30-minute story times every 2 hours with Meet and Greets before and after Rody Races (Scheduled every 2 hours) –blow up bouncy horses — Organized/facilitated races for kids.
Interactive story time with Tivio and Elvis the Pony (Usually in the designated kid area
Elvis the Pony and the Horse Color Mystery and Parade of Breeds– Kids hold different Breyer Horses that represent all the different horse colors in the book. As the story is told, kids identify the different colors based on descriptions from the book. Example — 3 kids have buckskin horses. As we discuss the color buckskin, kids identify who has the buckskins.
Elvis the Pony Meets A Mule — A story about making new friends — I have recordings of Mules and Donkeys doing their braying. As we read about making a friend that sounds and looks different from us, kids get to hear how; these creatures can sound.
Younger ages: Elvis the Pony Learns His Numbers and Colors/ABCs is an interactive I Spy book where we start in the book and look at the area around us to apply numbers and colors.
We can also offer SPANISH story times as the books are translated into Spanish.
